Priests and priestesses declare the nature of their work: 'We maintain the integrity of the sacred space. We call forth the divine so that the divine and the human may meet and know each other again. Through initiation we enter the work and learn its symbols. We keep the Holy Books, the sacred flame, the ancient rituals. When we enter the sacred space, we must leave our personal lives behind, sometimes for ever. We pronounce and interpret the holy word, but we keep the mysteries too, for in this space there will be the eternally moving, timelessly resting mystery.'
